Story line: R Rajkumar – a romantic action love story set in dusty backdrop of the Hindi Heartland. Rajkumar - a rugged, rebellious, passionate fighter who also has a devilish charm. One moment he makes you feel really comfortable and the very next, completely ill at ease! Rajkumar is sexy, brooding and raw. Chanda – a gorgeous, strong character. She is the niece of a poppy lord called Manik Parmar. Chanda is elegant and looks stunning. Rajkumar and Chanda fall in love and the entertainment begins, Prabhu Deva style.

Rajkumar (Shahid Kapoor) is an aimless youth who works for a drug baron named Shivraj (Sonu Sood). His latest mission is to kill a rival dealer named Manik Parmar (Ashish Vidyarthi). But Rajkumar's life changes forever when he claps eyes on the beautiful, educated Chanda (Sonakshi Sinha). What he doesn't know is that Chanda is an orphan who's been raised by her uncle - Manik Parmar! After some persistent wooing, Chanda falls for Rajkumar's charms. But in order for their love to flourish, he must destroy the drug cartel to which both Shivraj and Parmar owe allegiance, which is controlled by a Mafia don named Ajit Taaka (Srihari), who operates out of Malaysia.And back to marry with Chanda.

Know more about the captain of the Ship, the director: Prabhu Dheva Kannada (born 3 April 1973 )is an Indian film choreographer, stage dancer, actor and director known for his works predominantly in Tamil ,Telugu cinema, Bollywood, Malayalam and Kannada films. In a career spanning fifteen years, He has performed and designed a wide range of dancing styles. He has garnered two National Film Awards for Best Choreography, and has been widely known by the media as India's Michael Jackson.

After a sequence of successful attempts in acting in the 1990s and early 2000s such as Kadhalan (1994), Raasaiyya (1995), Minsara Kanavu (1997), Naam Iruvar Namakku Iruvar (1998), Kaathala Kaathala (1998) and Vanathai Pola (2000), Prabhu Dheva ventured into direction with 2005 Telugu blockbuster Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana. He then went on to direct successful films in Telugu, Hindi and Tamil languages such as Shankardada Zindabad (2007), Pokkiri (Tamil)(2007), Wanted (2009) and Rowdy Rathore (2012).

His last directorial venture Ramaiya Vastavaiya was a critical and box office failure.

The film was first titled Rambo Rajkumar. According to reports, the makers of the original Rambo series had copyrighted the word Rambo making it unavailable for usage by other filmmakers. As a result, the makers decided on a title change for the film. However, since the film's title is already known among the audience the makers decided on dropping a few letters from the title rechristening it to R... Rajkumar.[10] After the film's title change, Shahid Kapoor's character in the film, which was Rambo Rajkumar initially, was also changed.
Film’s budget is approx. 40 crore.

My Gut Feel and comments:

Mass entertainers are doing well these days and following the trend prabhu deva is coming up with R Rajkumar. Pepped up funky songs and its chorography already get the attention of cine-goers. Prabhu deva’s average hindi entertainers wanted and Rowdy Rathore became super hits as they got the boost from star presence like Salman khan and Akshay Kumar however same is not the case with R Rajkumar as Shahid Kapoor still finding it tough to get the foot holds in hindi cine business although being dedicated and hardworking performer.

Coming back to the R Rajkumar as I go by promos I am expecting it to be an average movie with loud over the top action, average screenplay and typical story line where hero fighting throughout the movie for his lady love and beating the opposition left right and center.
I would give this movie 2.5 out of 5 stars, five days before the release.
