Storyline:
Azhar is a biopic about the former Indian cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin. He was one of India's most successful cricket captains, who was banned from all forms of cricket for his involvement in match-fixing and later became a Congress MP. Emraan Hashmi will be playing Azhar in the movie.
The film stars Emraan Hashmi as Azhar, Prachi Desai as his first wife, Naureen and Nargis Fakhri as his love affair and second wife, Sangeeta Bijlani. Huma Qureshi is also playing an important role in the film.

My Gut Feel and comments:
After watching the trailer and doing some research about the movie I believe creative team missed the trick by margin and film lacks the punch expected from the subject like this.
Film is directed by Anthony D'Souza who has done some average work in past and directed few below average films and did two average films Blue and Boss with Akshay Kumar. A movie is Biopic of the most controversial captain of India cricket team, Azhar and I am sure that a lot of cinematic liberties were taken while making the film which could go against the movie. Although budget of the movie is moderate and subject is sensational, there are bright chances that this movie would do a decent business.
One thing which goes in favor of this movie is story and screenplay writer Rajat Arora’s association with this who had done some decent work as a story, screenplay and dialogue writer for the films like Bluffmaster, Taxi No. 911, Once upon a time in Mumbaai and the dirty picture.
I am sure Rajat’s experience would count and will support the movie Azhar.  Emraan Hashmi is looking good although he  repeated himself again with a typical grey shaded character, music is quite good. Overall Azhar seems to be an average movie with some interesting moments.
Going by my gut feeling I am giving Azhar 2.5 stars out of 5, one day before the release.
