Storyline:
Set in Lucknow, Jolly
LLB 2 is the story of the blunt, abrasive and yet oddly compassionate
Jagdishwar Mishra, aka Jolly, a small-time, struggling lawyer who has moved
from Kanpur to the city of Nawabs to pursue his dream of becoming a big-time
lawyer. A hustler by nature, Jolly survives by fighting petty cases and using
every tactic under the sun to make a quick buck and earn a decent living.
Having spent years in the chaotic and dingy court corridors Jolly is looking
out for an opportunity that could turn the tide in his favour and help him
achieve his dream of becoming a full-fledged Lawyer with a chamber. When faced
with the glimpse of such an opportunity, Jolly jumps at the chance and in the
bargain commits an innocent mistake with irreversible consequences that makes
him ready for a big fight with the ruthless advocate Mathur.

After completing
his MA degree in Hindi literature, Kapoor started his career as a political
journalist in Delhi in the 1990s covering North India, thereafter when his
short film got him acclaim in 2001, he started making commercial short films,
documentaries and ad films, eventually shifting base to Mumbai in 2006.
In 2007, Kapoor made
his feature film directorial debut with Say Salaam India. The film failed at
the box office, In 2010, he directed his second venture, a satire Phas Gaye Re
Obama, which featured many comedians. The film managed to do well in India, and
received critical acclaim as well as commercial success.Due to the surprise
success of the film, Kapoor began writing his next project. In 2013, it was
announced that Kapoor's next project is titled Jolly LLB and features Arshad
Warsi, Amrita Rao and Boman Irani. It is a courtroom drama with an comical
touch. The film was released on 15 March 2013. In 2015 Guddu Rangeela was
released which neither critically acclaimed nor a success a box office.
My Gut Feel and
comments:
Jolly LLB part one was
a class act. As an under rated actor Arshad warsi backed by interesting story
line and with realistic screenplay. All
in all an intelligent film with decent performances.
On the other hand
Jolly LLB part 2 seems loud and seems to be an attempt to justify the stardom
of Akshay Kumar from first to last frame. This is where most of the sequels go
wrong as in order to create better bigger film creative teams goes wrong in
most of the places.
Although good aspect
is that director of both the movies is same, Subhash Kapoor who is an intelligent creative person and changes are that
with his latest offering he would have delivered a decent movie if not the
great one.
Jolly LLB 2 with Akshay kumar in lead will surely attract mass audience
to the theater and I believe Akshay’s fans won’t be disappointed.
In second half of the movie changes
are that film would loss the grip however I am sure it won’t go drastically
wrong.
Going by my gut
feeling I am giving this movie 2.5 stars out of 5, two days before the release.
