Know more about the captain of the
Ship, the director: He assisted two
maverick film makers, Mahesh Bhatt and David Dhawan, initially. Having worked
on a couple of films with both the Directors, he started work with Sajid
Nadiadwala's company, Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, in various capacities,
also graduating to directing music videos and trailers.
He later wrote the screenplay for Kambakkht Ishq [2009], after
having discarded two previous attempts. He was quite confident of the entertainment
value of his project and to add to the same, he pulled out all stops. In a
first for Indian Cinema, his movie featured cameo appearances from A-list
Hollywood actors including, Sylvester Stallone, Denise Richards, Brandon Routh
and Holly Valance among others. The film was shot mostly in Hollywood, Los
Angeles and Italy and finished on sound stages in Mumbai.
Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala the movie, Sabbir Khan's directorial
debut, was released on 3 July 2009.
Sabbir Khan's next directorial venture Heropanti released on 23
May 2014. Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, it stars debutante actors Tiger Shroff
and Kriti Sanon. He then directed Baaghi.
My Gut Feel and
comments:
Better to put your heart on the line, risk everything, and walk
away with nothing than play it safe.
Above seems true in case of Munna
Michael as a film should turn out to be a safe bet as it seems to be a
typical Massala mass appealing entertainment with no novelty in neither story
line or narration.
Likewise Heropanti and Baaghi
director Sabbir Khan kept the
commercial success dynamics intact, which are keeping the moderate budget
backed by aggressive production house and repeating Tiger Shroff third consecutive
time in action avatar backed by his dancing skills with flat dialogue delivery
style.
In case of Tiger Shroff all his three average movies Heropanti,
Baaghi and flying Jatt has done above average box office business which means
he is a saleable actor for the time being even if he is repeating himself in the
same ways and form.
The X factor of this movie is Nawazuddin Siddiqui whose presence
has increased the chances of success of this movie as he being a fine actor
definitely scale up movie, although unlike his image he is playing different role
which fits in a frame of typical mass entertainer.
Going by my gut
feel I am giving this movie 2.5 stars
out of 5 stars, four days before the release.
