Storyline:

Jai Gangaajal is about a female cop, who takes on some powerful and influential men in her district. It is about today's dictum of society-police relationship. 'Gangaajal' was more from the heart. This one has all the bizarre things happening around us in reality. The film is not made on a big scale and also has very less characters. It is a concentrated story. In the second installment, Priyanka Chopra will fill her Blackmail co-star's shoes, as she takes on more corruption in the hinterlands.

My Gut Feel and comments:

“There are only two or three human stories, and they go on repeating themselves as fiercely as if they had never happened before.” Willa Cather
Above quotes seem true in the case of Jai Gangaajal where storyline is typical and shot in typical Prakash Jha’s style. Priyanka as female protagonist looking impressive and reminds Rani Mukherjee of Mardaani.
Film’s length is 2 hours 38 minutes which seems high for storyline like this where higher a chance that few weak moments here and there and non-required songs break the flow of narration which impacts the movie adversely
Prakash Jha was quite rusty in his last two directorial ventures Satyagraha and Aarakshan as they both lacked the hard hitting impact one can expect from his movies may be the case he got support from big banners and huge star cast and this pressure lead to under delivering which happened with other seasoned directors as well in the past.
This time, he seems to go by books where he himself has taken the full charge by directing as well as producing the way he did in the case of Apaharan and Gangaajal.  Going by today’s standard Jai GangaaJal’s budget is quite moderate i.e. Rs 10 crore which is surely recoverable at the box office.
The overall film seems to be a decent one with repeat storyline still holding entertainment value.

Going by my gut feeling I am giving Jai Gangaajal 3 stars out of 5, two day before the release.
